Bamboo parquet

Bamboo flooring is made from Moso bamboo, a species widespread in East Asia known for its rapid growth and the fibrous, resistant structure of its stem. Unlike trees, bamboo is a woody grass: after cutting, the underground rhizome remains intact and allows the plant to regenerate without the need for replanting. This makes it a renewable resource, available in cycles of 4–5 years.

The stems are cut lengthwise into strips and stripped, removing the harder, more irregular outer layer. The strips obtained can be heat treated with steam or heat to change the natural colour of the material, which varies from the original light tone to darker shades.

The strips are then dried to reduce internal moisture and improve the dimensional stability of the material. Once ready, they are glued and pressed together to form panels or planks. The type of pressing and fibre arrangement may vary, but in all cases the result is a compact material with mechanical characteristics comparable to or superior to those of traditional hardwoods.

Finally, the panels are cut, calibrated and sanded to obtain the boards for the flooring. Depending on requirements, they can be supplied unfinished or already finished (varnished or oiled), ready for installation.
