Legiuna rock is a white-grey gneiss with a coarse grain and large white crystals.

It is quarried between the villages of Malvaglia and Biasca, at the end of the Pontirone Valley (Ticino, Switzerland).

The grains of this gneiss range from 4 to 80 millimetres in diameter, including large feldspar eyes, which can reach a diameter of 8 centimetres.

Its composition is as follows: feldspar, quartz, biotite (dark mica), and in some cases garnet and amphibole.

This stone is highly resistant to frost, acids and alkalis.
