Baveno pink granite is a medium-coarse-grained stone with a pinkish colour and very compact texture.
Its name derives from its place of extraction, the town of Baveno, located on the western shore of Lake Maggiore in Italy.
It was widely exported throughout Europe and beyond, and was mainly used in the form of columns for buildings.
Today, there is only one open-air quarry left where it is extracted.
Its composition is as follows: milky white feldspar, grey vitreous quartz and black to greenish biotite.
