Oak parquet

Oak parquet is a wooden floor comprising pre-finished planks with a multi-layer structure. The top layer, known as the wear layer, is made of European oak and is generally between 2.5 and 3.5 mm thick.

The backing consists of one or more layers of wood arranged crosswise (such as spruce or birch) or high-density fibreboard, such as HDF or MDF. This configuration improves the material’s stability, limiting shrinkage and swelling caused by humidity and making the parquet more resistant to temperature fluctuations. For this reason, it is also suitable for use with underfloor heating systems.

The planks are manufactured using tongue-and-groove systems or precision mechanical joints, which facilitate installation and ensure a good fit between the boards.

The surface can be finished using techniques such as brushing, planing or micro-beveling, which highlight the natural grain of the wood and enhance its tactile feel. Finishes include natural oil treatments or multi-layer UV coatings; in some cases, advanced protective systems are used to increase resistance to wear, stains and household products, whilst maintaining good breathability and ease of maintenance.

Finally, thanks to its low thermal resistance and good thermal conductivity, this type of parquet is particularly suitable for energy-efficient buildings.
